When you think about Vegas the images of casinos, parties, shows and fun come directly to your mind. Well, let me tell you that besides the famous strip you need to visit Downtown Las Vegas and discover amazing food places and the origins of the capital of entertainment. The best way to experience Vegas as a foodie is with Vegas Valley Food Tours. With them you’ll explore delicious and eclectic culinary options as well as cultural offerings. This is what Vickie Wilson, founder of Vegas Valley Food Tours, told us why you should join her tours and tell all of your friends about them.
Who is Vickie Wilson?
I’m a lifelong resident of Las Vegas. As a food tour owner, I combine my passions of life-learning, eating and meeting people from all over the world. My experience as educator, social worker and Vegas lover, lets me connect history, culture and the community in a positive unique experience through historic downtown Las Vegas.
What makes Las Vegas the perfect place for a food tour?
Vegas (as we know it today) started as a rail town in 1905 named The Clark Las Vegas Townsite. It grew from being a rail stop to being the start of what would become the foundation for the Vegas we see today.
As time went on, the gaming industry took shape on the strip to outgrow the growth in the older Fremont Street Historic District. The strip is fabulous and there is nothing like it in the world!
The whimsical charm of downtown Las Vegas historic center along with the rich culture and independently owned eateries make it the perfect place for a gastronomic tour. At Vegas Valley Food Tours we share our passion for history, community and culinary offerings with visitors and locals.
