Buying Tickets

Do I Have to Purchase Tickets in Advance? Can I Pay In Cash?

Tickets must be purchased in advance as the Historic Centre Food Tour, the Colonia Roma Food Tour and the Tacos and Mezcal Tour typically sell out quickly ahead of time. Please book well in advance to ensure that you get the day and time that you prefer. Tickets can only be purchased online with Visa, AMEX, or MasterCard or by calling Call  +52 55 5350-9565Mexico / 1 (888) 727-4710 USA & Canada. Cash is not accepted.

If a Food Tour is Sold Out, Can I Get on a Waiting List?

We do not provide a waiting list. If a date and time is sold out, there is always a good chance that we will add an additional tour on that day. Please email us to let us know what date you are interested in if you do not see availability.

What Type of Tickets Are available?

There are two types of tickets available for our walking food tours:

  • Colonia Roma Food Tour Monday – Saturday: Regular Ticket and Children’s Ticket
  • Tacos and Mezcal Tour Monday – Sunday: Regular Ticket y Children’s Ticket
  • Historic Center Food Tour Monday – Sunday: Regular Ticket and Children’s Ticket

Are Gift Certificates Available?

Yes, Sabores Mexico Food Tours Gift Certificates are available for all tours offered. To purchase or learn more about our gift certificates, please visit our Gift Certificates page and submit a Gift Certificates Request Form. A member of Sabores México staff will respond with payment and further instructions.

Can I book a Private Group Tour?

Yes, Sabores Mexico Food Tours’ Private Mexico City Food Tours are available as private versions of all tours offered. To set up or learn more, please visit our Private Group Tours page and submit a Private Group Tour Request Form. A member of Sabores México staff will respond within 24 hours.

Can I Reschedule My Tickets or Get A Refund?

We allow free cancellations and date changes (pending availability) up to 24 hours before your tour. Cancellations and/or date changes must be communicated by email at [email protected] no less than 24 hours in advance of the tour in order to receive a refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 24 hours of a tour and no refunds or rebookings are available once a tour has commenced.

Does the Tour Leader accept Gratuities?

If you enjoy the service your tour host provides, gratuities are greatly appreciated. The standard gratuity in the service industry is 15%.

What Does My Food Tour Ticket include?

When you purchase a ticket it includes: all food tasting from all the stops, Sabores México Food Tours neighbourhood guide with future discount deals, a passionate and trained food tour concierge leading the tour route, and a bottle of water.

When is the Best Time to Take the Tour?

We highly recommend taking our food tours at the beginning of your visit so you allow plenty of time to revisit the wonderful neighborhoods off-the- beaten-path and also enjoy returning to your favorite food tasting locations and redeeming your Store Coupons. Since tours usually sell out well in advance, there is not a better day of the week versus another.

Do We Only Walk Around and Sample Food?

Absolutely not! Sabores México Food Tours combines architectural commentary, historical facts, local culture and culinary insight into a unique 3-hour experience. We explain Mexican customs and social norms surrounding food, including Mexico City’s waiters, café culture, the restaurant experience, the menu, other diners, how to interact with shop owners, etc. By understanding cultural differences, your dining and eating experiences will be heightened and enjoyed for the remainder of your trip and all future visits. Imagine walking through Mexico eating our local artisans most delicious foods while learning Mexican culture and history. That beats a museum any day! What Restaurants Will We Visit on the Tour?

How Much Food is Served on the Food Tour?

Sabores México Food Tours serves enough food that for most participants lunch or diner afterwards is not necessary. With the combination of drink and food tastings plus the breaks for architectural, cultural, and historical insight, most participants are comfortably full after our food tours. Please understand our food tours are not intended to replace breakfast and lunch combined, so please consider eating a light breakfast before the tour.

Is the Food Served Spicy and Hot?

Although Mexican food is cooked with several ingredients, which include diverse chiles, our food tastings are not hot or spicy. We offer hot salsas that you can add to your samples, we recommend to do it under your own sole risk.

What Type of Foods are Served on the Tour?

Food is provided by traditional mexican eateries, specialty food shops and local restaurants. For a better idea of what types of eateries we will visit, a list of the food tasting locations can be found on the Historic Centre Food Tour, the Colonia Roma Food Tour and the Tacos and Mezcal Tour product page. Tasting locations can change without notice.

Are the Samples the Size of What Grocery Stores Offer (Small)?

We take pride in our sample sizes on our tours.  We feel it sets us apart from other food tour offerings.  You won’t find 1 oz. souffle cups or a sample so small you are not sure what you just put in your mouth!  Our chefs are passionate about what they make for our tour groups and if anything, we have to keep telling them to cut back on the amount they share with our participants!

Are Any Beverages Served on the Tour?

We supply everyone with a bottle of water at the start of the tour, the Colonia Roma Food Tour serves wine, mezcal and a beer tasting included, the Historic Centre Food Tour does includes alcoholic drinks an the Tacos and Mezcal Tour you can drink craft beer, commercial beer and a mezcal tasting. Additionally, most of the tasting locations provide water and/or beverages during the tour.

Are Alcoholic Tastings Included on the Tour?

Yes, we will be tasting wine, beer and mezcal in some of our tasting locations.

Are There Vegetarian Options on the Tour?

Yes, all tours offer alternative tasting options for vegetarians, vegans and for people with food allergies. Please notify us of your dietary restrictions when you purchase your ticket.

What If I Have Dietary Restrictions or Allergies?

Please be sure and let us know if you (or anyone in your group) has a dietary restriction (e.g. vegetarian, vegan, diabetic, allergy, and diets that are gluten-free, milk-free, alcohol and caffeine-free, etc.) when you purchase your tickets. As long as we know in advance, we can make substitutions for many food preferences to accommodate your needs. There are some tasting locations where it is very difficult to find substitutions (for example, finding an alternate food tasting for a dairy allergy in a cheese shop or a diabetic in a pastry shop).

Do You Have Any Life Threatening Food Allergies?

Who Should Live a Food Tour?

What About Taking Children on the Tour?

While we offer children tickets, the tours are three to four and a half hours long and some children have a limited attention span and therefore the tour may not be appropriate for some of them. Parents, who know their children best, should assess the situation individually. Since there is a lot of standing and walking, please consider this when deciding whether the tour is appropriate for your child.

How Much walking is Involved? Is It a Fast-Paced Tour?

The Colonia Roma Food Tour generally lasts 3.5 hours approximately, while the Historic Centre Food Tour has an approximate duration of 4.5 hours. Participants can expect to be sitting for a majority of the time. We walk at a moderate pace and also provide at least two resting locations for at least 45 minutes total. While the Tacos and Mezcal Tour lasts 3 hours approximately we take you in a private transportation.

Do Your Tours Have Anything to Offer A Mexico City Native?

Absolutely! The majority of our customers are locals, so we believe Mexico natives and expats will equally enjoy our tours. Mexico City locals participate to learn about the neighbourhoods and the city in which they live in. We hope to introduce you to new restaurants and specialty food stores in your city as well as talk about local landmarks that you may not know as much about.

If I Am Bringing An Infant/Very Young Child, Do I Need to Purchase a Ticket For Them?

If you are bringing an infant/very young child and they will not be participating in the tastings, you do not need to purchase a ticket for them. However, please do let us know if you will be attending with an infant or young child when you purchase tickets in the Notes section.

Is the Tour Wheelchair and Baby Stroller Accessible?

The Historic Centre Food Tour and the Colonia Roma Food Tour routes and tasting establishments are wheelchair and baby stroller friendly and accessible. For the Tacos and Mezcal Tour we transport you in a vehicle.

Logistics (Meeting Point, Weather, Pets, Bathrooms)

Where do The Food Tours Begin?

Each of the experiences has a specific meeting point. Once the purchase has been made, you will receive an email with the address and name of the starting place, tickets and recommendations.

Do You Offer Transportation Service From and to the Hotel?

No, the food tours of Sabores México Food Tours do not include transportation to and from the hotel. However, if you require the service after the purchase of tickets, you can write to [email protected] requesting a quote.

Does the Tour End at the Same Place We Meet?

No, Sabores México Food Tours do not finish at the same location as the meeting point. However, detailed instructions are provided after ticket purchase with starting and ending point locations, and all participants receive a map with return directions included at the beginning of the tour. After the tour is finished, you can walk, take a Mexico City taxi or the Metrobus to accomplish return trips.

Are Tours Offered Only in Spanish?

No, we also offer tours in English check the calendar for the days and times for the Spanish and English tours. Please email us if you would like to make arrangements for your own interpreter to join the tour or if you are interested in a tour in a different language as we are able to accommodate most requests ahead of time.

What Happens if it Rains?

The tours are held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will be able to go inside many of the establishments on the tour. However, we advise to check the weather conditions for your days event and dress appropriately.

How Should I Dress During a Tour?

Wear whatever you are comfortable in, but be sure to have comfortable shoes since we will be doing a fair amount of walking.

Are Bathrooms Available During a Tour?

Yes, bathrooms are available during the tour at selected food-tasting locations.

Can We Bring Our Pet With Us?

Sorry, pets will have to stay home on this walking food tour.  We do visit some wonderful dog friendly restaurants for your future return.  Our policy is no pets of any kind.

Are Cameras Allowed on the Tour?

Yes. Cameras and filming are allowed during the tour. We strongly encourage participants to take photos during the tour. Feel free to post them to our FacebookTwitter and Instagram page.

Do You Allow Tweeting and Sharing on Facebook During the tour?

Is There Parking Near the Tour Meeting Point?

Yes, there is both private and public parking located near the meeting point of the Colonia Roma Food Tour, the Historic Centre Food Tour and the Tacos and Mezcal Tour. Specific parking details are included in the meeting location directions after purchasing ticket(s) with location, pricing, and hours.
